The benefits of Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) during the summer

Friday, July 19th, 2013

Ascorbic acid also known as Vitamin C, is the main ingredient in the Abella Skin Care Cellution C.

This is an ideal product to use during the summer with benefits including:
* Packed with antioxidants.
* Protects against UV radiation.
* Slows down melanin production (pigmentation) caused by the hot summer sun.
* Stimulates collagen production that gets broken down with sun exposure.
* Anti-inflammatory against sun burns.
* Topical Vitamin C products, such as the Cellution C, produce much higher concentrations in the skin than any nutritional supplements

During the summer months more of your body is exposed to the sun. The Cellution C can be mixed with you favorite body lotion and be radiant from head to toe.

Fact: 20 minutes of direct sun exposure will take your body 2 weeks to repair the collagen damage.

The Difference between Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid

Wednesday, July 3rd, 2013

Salicylic and glycolic acids are both used in the skin care industry to exfoliate the skin.

Facts about Glycolic acid:
– Glycolic acid (latic and citric acid) is naturally found in grapes that are not yet ripened and sugarcane.
– Glycolic acid is also known as alpha-hydroxy acid.
– Glycolic acids stimulate collagen growth while exfoliating the skin.

Facts about Salicylic acid:

– Salicylic acid is the base compound for aspirin and found in willow tree bark.
– Salicylic acid is known as beta-hydroxy acid.
– It helps treat acne flare-ups because it penetrates blocked follicles, clears debris and exfoliates the skin.
Be aware of the acids but it’s really about the pH (strength). The lower pH (medical grade) peels are performed at a Doctor’s office because they penetrate deeper into the skin and irritate the skin to create new cells.   The higher the pH the less it exfoliates and therefore are found in over the counter products.  That is why all peels are not created equal!
Especially during the summer it is mandatory to shield and protect the skin after any peels with Physical Sunscreen, a hat and bring your umbrella.
