Evaluation of Sun Protection Factor
A blend of standard production samples of ColorShade Makeup was subjected to an abbreviated SPF Determination Method as prescribed and approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Results of this testing provided an SPF rating for this product of SPF 31.5. This is the result of several remarkable and new discoveries. The potency of this combined technology is clear because this product contains the lowest and safest level of active sunscreen of any sun product in the market. ColorShade needs only 6% sunscreen to achieve an SPF of 31.5. For comparison Coppertone Sport uses 6% sunscreen agent to achieve an SPF of 15. ColorShade is the most efficient sun protection product in any market in the world. It is designed for daily wear, to deliver real broad spectrum UV protection, continuously.
So What New Technology Produces Such High Efficiency and Safety?
The following includes technological advances that have never before been combined in sun protection products until now.
1. Nanotechnology (the science of two things too small to be visible) exploits structures smaller than a wavelength of light. Light waves are 400 to 800 nanometers (nm) in length. The particles of Z-Cote micronized Zinc Oxide used in ColorShade are smaller than a wavelength of light. A special process is used to separate the small particles. But, at their small size, when dispersed well, they can block 4 to 8 times as much UV as normal white Zinc Oxide.
2. Sunscreen Synergism is a term which means that some combination sunscreen ingredients provide more protection when used together than when used separately. ColorShade uses a proprietary synergistic combination of Micronized Zinc Oxide and Octinoxate in a light bending layer which works two ways to prevent UV damage. It both reflects and absorbs dangerous UV rays.
3. High UVA Blocking is an attribute not measured by many UV protection brands. UVA protection is very important for reducing your risk of skin cancer, especially Melanoma. Research at the Brookhaven National Labs has determined that UVA is the main trigger for the most deadly form of skin cancer, Melanoma.
