Is body acne making you self conscious this summer?

Tuesday, June 30th, 2015

Loving-Couple-Near-BeachIs body acne making you self conscious this summer?
Try our Exfoliating Cleanser on your entire body to exfoliate with Alpha Hydroxy Acid that dries up acne and remove excess oils. We suggest a quarter size drop in hand or a textured sponge to lather on the body then rinse. Avoid sensitive areas. Do not exfoliate after been outdoors in the sun. Use daily sun protection with an SPF 30 or more to protect from sun damage.

Pre-Treatment, better results, less risk

Wednesday, November 20th, 2013

As we posted on Facebook this past weekend we attended to the AAAM (American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine) congress in Orlando. Not only did we exhibit but I also attended the lectures, since there is always something new to learn. There was a lot of talk about Peels, Lasers, other skin treatment machines and protocols.

There are several reasons why it is difficult to predict the outcome of procedures/peels:

1 – There is a wide variety of procedures/peels that have different strength levels.

2- There are different types of skin, reference the Fitzpatrick Classification. Click here to see earlier blog.

3- Pre-treatments prepare the skin for optimal results; avoid complications, aid on even application through the treated area.

Pre-treatments are easy, help the patient to comply. It usually start 4 to 6 weeks before the procedure is scheduled.

Start with an Alpha Hydroxy Acid Cleanser, Topical Vitamin C to modulate Melanin slowing down melanin production (pigmentation) , 10% Glycolic and a Broad Spectrum sunscreen. Some Doctors or other Skin Care Professionals like to also pre-treat with 2% or 4% Hydroquinone, depending on the skin type. Please note all these pretreatment products are found in the Abella Skin Care line.

Pre-treatments are not only what you apply on your skin. Be conscious of what you are drinking and eating. Eat foods that provide healthy healing enzymes. Abella Skin Care will continue to blog on healthy food recommendations for each season. One of our favorite pre-procedure foods is the pineapple that contains an enzyme called Bromeliad helping to reduce bruising and speed healing.

Take advantage of the Winter and liberate yourself from unwanted pigmentation

Friday, January 18th, 2013

We are happy to announce the Enliten™ bleaching cream is back and could not have come at a better time. Winter is the optimal time to erase the visual sun damage from the summer; and you know what I am talking about, pigmentation.

During winter you are indoors and most of your body is covered and protected from the sun; it is the perfect time to even your skin tone. Enliten is a unique blend that is so effective that only 2% Hydroquinone is needed, minimizing irritation to sensitive skin. Hydroquinone is very effective and is preferred by most Physicians. From your head to your toes we all have unwanted dark spots somewhere on our body. The Enliten can be used to treat all areas of the body. Great examples can be to lighten pigmentation caused from waxing on your face or get rid of the scar on your leg that pigmented in the sun.  Enliten™ works with all skin types (ref: previous blog post) and is ideal for ethnic skin.

Do I continue Face Peels in the Summer?

Monday, June 4th, 2012

We have received an email from one of our loyal customers asking if she can continue her skin care program with Peels during the summer. The answer is Yes, you should not stop your regular skin care program. It is true the sun is stronger in the summer but there are several ways to combat the summer sun while continuing your skin regimen.  You work all year on your skin and there is no need to give up for a few months in the summer and start over in the fall.

We have a few suggestions for you to consider:

1)      Each day continue applying your broad spectrum sunscreen of 30+ or more and reapply after swimming or sweating.

2)      Seek the shade or an Umbrella on a beach or pool day.

3)      Wear sun protection fabrics. Abella is a big supporter and owner of several Tilley hats that offer fabrics and stylish hats with ultraviolet protection. (http://www.tilley.com/)

4)      Try to avoid going into the sun during the hottest time of the day.

If you have any skin care questions please feel free to email info@abellaskincare.com and we will gladly respond promptly.

Time to Shed the Dead Skin from Winter

Wednesday, April 13th, 2011

As the heater gets turned off and you step out with fewer layers you may feel like your body needs to be revived from the winter hibernation. Abella Skin Care offers two solutions to exfoliate your skin and give you back your youthful glow.

The Exfoliating Cleanser is a unique blend of Natural Green Tea, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Lactic Acid, Glycolic Acid, Aloe and other ingredients. We choose these main ingredients for the following benefits:

Natural Green Tea acts as counterirritants and an anti-inflammatory

Alpha Hydroxy Acid removes dead skin cells and excess oils

Lactic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid that gently exfoliates as well as hydrates

Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid that removes the top layer of old skin cells to brighten and even out texture

Aloe is a cell renewal ingredient that accelerates the skin’s natural repair process, eases inflammation and soothes the skin

This deep cleansing formula leaves the skin soft and preps the skin allowing greater absorbency of the Renewal Gel 10% Glycolic Acid.

The Renewal Gel is a Glycolic Acid formula with a pH of 1.8 and is a great at home peel to do on your skin. As stated above Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid that removes the top layer of old skin cells to brighten and even out texture. Other benefits include: accelerates the skin’s natural exfoliation process, stimulates circulation (increases production of collagen and elastin), reduces acne and blackhead frequency, and minimizes wrinkles & fine lines.

How to use: Apply a thin coat of Renewal Gel to cover your face, neck, back, hands or spot treat with a Q-Tip on desired areas (for example a pimple). Allow to work for 30 to 45 minutes. For a deeper peel you can leave the product on the skin longer or overnight depending on your skins individual tolerance. Rinse well with lukewarm water until the product is removed.

Sun Protection Tip:

Any product that contains Alpha Hydroxy Acid can increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun. Abella Skin Care recommends the use a sunscreen, such as the SolarShade SPF 45 or the ColorShade SPF 30+.

How can topical Vitamin C help my skin?

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Antioxidants like topical Vitamin C are great for protecting against daily aggressors, such as sun, pollution, smoke, and stress. These aggressors trigger a chain reaction of oxidation and inflammation that leads to the breakdown of human tissue. The damage eventually turns into visible signs such as wrinkles, redness, sagging, hyperpigmentation and a change in skin tone and texture. Topical Vitamin C will help combat these effects by stimulating collagen.

Remember that the skin is the largest organ in the body, so why not apply topically (onto the skin)? Abella’s Cellution C packs a powerful punch of Vitamin C to rejuvenate your skin and fight the signs of aging with each application.

Great for Men and Women!

How to use:  A drop of Cellution C onto your finger tip. Apply to face, neck and chest.  Allow to penetrate into skin before applying any other product(s).  Men: Apply after shaving.

Our customer feedback shows they like to put a drop of the Cellution C into their hand with Abella’s Facial Moisturizer for daily use.

Tip: If you want to change the consistency of the product to be thinner   just wet your hands before the application process (stated above) since ascorbic acid is water soluble.

Does order matter when I apply products in my daily skin-care routine?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

I recently was emailed a question by one of our Blog Readers asking, “Does order matter when I apply products in my daily skin-care routine”?  The answer to this question is YES!  When applying your products start from the thinnest formulation to the thickest formulation. For example after cleansing your face with the Dual Cleanser next apply your serum like the Cellution C. These products have more active ingredients, so penetration into the skin is critical to maximize results.  Next apply your face lotion like Abella’s Facial Moisturizer to seal in the moisture and finish with a broad spectrum sun block such as SolarShade SPF 45 or to add color use ColorShade SPF 30+ available in four tints. Our products can be purchased online at www.skinstore.com , www.dermstore.com , www.skinelite.com  and www.amazon.com.
